Veil of Unfamiliarity

A gaze around, a thought -- never been this close to the othertribes before.. necessity.. the comfortable curves that I know sowell, my tribe, the eyes, the face, the arms, all comforting..and now, the more distant relatives.. the thin Gupta with their hoodedeyes, the pygmy, big-eyed Tscali who we always think look like children..the skeletal Dwali.. And now, to survive, we embrace them, though we knowit to be against the way of the ancestors. Turn your eyes as you weep, for this is the only way.
