Enforced Neutrality

I was just drifting off to sleep, when I thought of the most wonderfully perverse phrase, logically speaking. Don't tell me things I don't want to know unless you want to hear things you don't want to hear. Both halves of the sentence are almost free of meaning, because presumably the listener, if they respect the speaker, already would not tell the other things they don't want to know without good reason (and if they don't respect them, there's no point in saying it), and for the second part, people tautologically don't want to hear things they don't want to hear. I suppose it's really not so meaningless though, because it's a threat to meet kind with kind (or unkind with unkind, as the case may be). Hooray for sleepy blog entries.

Tonight, I learned from a friend about a store that I've wanted to visit for awhile, but couldn't because I neither knew where it was nor could I quite remember its name. It was one of those special kinds of memory where I could easily be sure that when I heard it, *that* was the place.

I am surprisingly enthused about the upcoming hiking trip. It's great to have something to look forward to.
