My TV came in. Newegg messed up in packing it (or UPS messed up in shipping it?) in that the box was only barely together when it arrived (it was dumped on my porch while I was at the doctor's, no signature, etc) and the top of the TV is slightly cracked. It's not that bad, so I probably won't return it, but it's hardly thrilling. Amusing: With newer TVs, one must have better connections for things to look good. The picture is a lot sharper, but my VCR tapes look cruddy. Sigh. I've also been trying to see the difference between component and composite video. I can't really see it yet -- I'm not sure if this is because I am attempting to cheat by using old composite cables in component plugs to connect my DVD player to my TV or because none of my content is of the appropriate sort to look better with component connections. I will probably swing by Radio Shack tonight when I'm done with work stuff (working from home today..) and get some proper component cables to see if it makes a difference.
I toying with the idea that being a philosopher is more about style of living and mental activities/conduct than about the product from that.
