If any of you ever want to randomly screw up someone's home directory that leaves them with something they have to worry a lot about and pick over, the following is a good recipe (maybe 1 in 100 files will be truncated down to 0):
tar cf homedir/ | (FAILED cd /newpolace/ ; tar xvf -)
Obviously, the following is much safer:
(tar cf homedir / | (cd /newpolace/ && tar xvf -)
Ouch. *guilty look* I have an unpleasant email to write.
Also, mellowcupcake and friends are my new upstairs neighbours, replacing the Indian dudes wwho were irritatingly good cooks and irritatingly popular.
Also also, I really should replace my couch - the forces of entropy^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hcat have made it quite unpresentable (although my average of a visitor once every few months mean it's really for me, which is ok - I just need to figure out where a couch can be acquired and figure out a way to get there and back with couch - if anyone has a car and wants to help out, maybe an IKEA trip is in order).
