Passing along news on Lawrence Lessig's 「Change Congress」 effort to pass a campaign finance reform bill. For those of us in Pittsburgh, Senator Arlen Specter (centrist politician who recently switched back to the Democratic party after 30 years in the Republicans) and Representative Michæl Doyle (democratic politician who's one of the rare members of the religious left and who's in with a bad crowd of scary theocrats) are already on board with this bill. Senator Bob Casey still needs to be prodded. People elsewhere should probably pester appropriate politicians. People in Pittsburgh should probably work to find a replacement for Doyle.
On a slightly different note, I think it would be positive for people to make a concerted effort to not reelect any politicians with ties to theocratic movements or who lean too close to libertarian positions, both of which are threats to the well-being of the nation. Sometimes there is little choice - Doyle's only opponent was Titus North (Green Party), whom I voted for despite not knowing anything about him.
