Charlie Hebdo

I just looked into the satirical French magazine that had its offices firebombed a few days ago (I think I mentioned it a few blog posts back); I think it's unfortunate that people living in western countries hold values sufficiently nonwestern that they'd do such a thing, but I'm a little bit surprised that this relatively mild depiction of Mohammad inspired the attack. Compared to the Jyllands attack sometime back, and even compared to the standard faire for Charlie Hebdo, the content under question is tame. I am glad that they reprinted it; until we can ensure and trust that faith is not above criticism and parody, it is a worthwhile thing to press these boundaries.
