Tonight I had experiments involving mixes of coffee and vodka. I came up with some intriguing flavours, but I think I went a bit heavy on the vodka. The (masked) sweetness of the vodka tamed the bitterness of the coffee (better than milk does), and it was surprisingly tasty, but I couldn't drink very much of it. My mixes were about 2/3 coffee and 1/3 vodka. Next experiments will involve less vodka yet (maybe 1/8 vodka?). I was going to try sour cream in the mix with the last 1/4 of the cup, but I didn't even quite manage to drink the first 1/4 (big cup).
I've found the reason my laptop has been shutting down randomly recently; I knew it was generally while I was at another computer, and it was really irritating because I use X redirection a lot. "Whoa! Where'd my gnumeric go?" is not a fun thing. It turns out that my cats have taken a liking to the glowing power button, and in winter they tend to like the warmth of a heated surface anyhow. Angling the lid so they can't easily either close the laptop nor squeeze in to sit on the keys has solved the problem. I wonder if a pair of heated cat beds would help.
